Huhu Beetle by Pete McCartney

This stunning limited edition print captures in amazing detail the huhu beetle. NZ artist Pete McCartney creates elegant black pen ink drawings of New Zealand's wildlife. He has always had an affinity for this wild environment and the unique creatures that call it home.

Pete works with black ink pens, with each pen stroke requiring patience and careful consideration.  The process is slow and unforgiving, and requires Pete to spend time considering each individual element, feather, scale or antenna in the context of the whole drawing.

The huhu beetle (Prionoplus reticularis) is a longhorn beetle endemic to New Zealand and found at Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari.
